Upgrade your hurricane knowledge with the National Hurricane Center (NHC)

Hurricane season officially began June 1st! With a more active season predicted for this year, we should be prepared and ready for whatever nature throws our way. Part of preparation includes thinking about the lessons learned in previous storms and making sure we understand how weather forecasting works. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Southeast & Caribbean Region (SECART) hosted a 2020 Hurricane Awareness Webinar Series that focuses on just that. The webinars covered lessons learned from the 2018/2019 hurricane seasons, Hurricane Dorian impacts, marine safety and more.

Note: Although this series was originally intended for emergency management professionals and broadcast meteorologists, it is educational and entertaining for a wide audience. We recommend high-school aged youth listen in with older family members so they can discuss and learn these more advanced topics together.
